The Pizza

QUESTIONNAIRE

Pizza topping preferences vary greatly, and I wanted to do my best to provide pizza everyone liked. I created an online questionnaire using Google Forms with three questions.

  • What time do you eat lunch?
  • What toppings do you like on your pizza?
  • Are you gluten free?

I created a spreadsheet of the responses. I placed three orders, broken down by lunch time + topping preferences of the people eating during that time slot.

MONEY SAVING TIP: We ordered a our pizza from Mod Pizza. I'm obsessed with their salad pizza, and they offer such unique topping combinations! This year, they were offering a significant discount to teachers for Appreciation Week. I asked the manager if they would honor the discount for me because I was providing lunch to the staff at my school. They did! That discount made it possible to include a "Pizza" of Resistance lunch during the week and still remain on budget.

LOGISTICS

In previous years we did something similar with Starbucks for the staff. I would pre-order/pre-pay for the coffee and coordinating volunteers to pick it up the morning of our breakfast.

This is very similar, except it was just me picking up. There was nothing to spill, and a stack of pizza boxes is easy to transport/carry. The difference is that I made multiple trips. Thankfully, we had a Mod Pizza about 5 minutes away from the school. I drove down 20 minutes before every new lunch shift to pick up fresh/warm pizza, and then deliver it to the staff lounge. Mod Pizza does not deliver, which is a bummer, but honestly, I would have worried about delivery timing. There is no flexibility in our lunch schedule, and I didn't mind zipping down the hill to pick up pizza.

If your pizza location is further away, you can recruit volunteers to help you, or have the pizza delivered.

Other Lunch Options

Every year I get requests for different event names (like Super Lunch instead of SOUPer Lunch), and I feel bad because I don't have time for custom orders during the craziness of Appreciation Season. This time around, I created printables for as many "Assembly Station" type lunches I could think of. If you would like to do something other than (or in addition to) a "Pizza" of Resistance lunch, we also have:

Lunch Assembly Station
Potato Assembly Station
Pasta Assembly Station
Salad Assembly Station
Sandwich Assembly Station
(Green) Drink Station

It's Your Turn!

Our "Pizza of Resistance" printables are available for purchase here. We also used the coordinating Drink Station printables and Water Bottle Labels for our lunch.
